The second phase of the Indian Premier League is going to start on 19 September. Meanwhile, all the IPL franchises are making some changes in their team. Somewhere someone is retaining the Khaadi and somewhere new player is being replaced.

Cricketer-turned-commentator-turned-former Indian player Aakash Chopra has also expressed his displeasure over keeping Rishabh Pant as the captain of the team. He reprimanded this decision of Delhi Capitals. Let us tell you that Delhi Capitals issued an official statement saying that Rishabh Pant will continue as the captain for the remainder of the IPL2021 season.

This statement by JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals comes on the arrival of Shreyas Iyer, who was earlier the official captain. Now he has returned to the team after recovering with full fitness.

Ahead of VIVO IPL 2021, Shreyas Iyer was injured in the ODI against England. Due to which he was dropped from the Delhi Capitals team. After that Pant was appointed as the stand-in captain of the team. Aakash Chopra was not happy with the team management’s decision. Because he said that Pant is doing well in international cricket, that is the reason why Iyer has been sidelined. Delhi Capitals Squad for VIVO IPL 2021

“Rishabh Pant is the captain. It’s OK but personally, I didn’t like that decision,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel. You decide on one captain, appoint him, he stays with you for 2-3 years, takes the team to the final, he gets injured, you bring in a stand-in captain and then you say let’s stay with the stand-in; ‘Because he’s doing well in international cricket, Shreyas, you can wait,” he added.

In the form of Pant, Delhi Capitals have maintained good form and have registered victories in six matches. So far in the IPL 2021 season, DC team has completed eight matches out of which the team is green in two matches and tops the points table with 12 points. Chopra further said that the Capitals need only two matches to make their place in the playoffs.

“In their last IPL in the UAE, they were brilliant. They were one of the first teams to qualify. Yes, they lost to MI four times but reached the finals which were their best season. Can they get better than that?” Chopra asked.

“They just have to win two matches and they’ll qualify so there’s no doubt this team will reach the final four,” he remarked.
