Ajinkya Madhukar Rahane was born on 06 June 1988. He is an Indian international cricketer and was a former captain of the Indian national team in all formats. Ajinkya plays as a top-order batsman in white-ball forms and primarily as a middle-order batsman in the Test format. He was also the India National Cricket Team vice-captain in Tests until the home series against New Zealand (2021). He represents Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL Tournaments and Mumbai in Domestic Cricket.
He made his first-class debut (2007–08) Ranji Trophy Season for Mumbai. International debut in T20Is against England at Manchester (August 2011). Test debut in the Border–Gavaskar Trophy in March 2013. Rahane 1st Test century came across at Basin Reserve, Wellington against New Zealand.
India won the Border–Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 in Australia under his captaincy. As of May 2021, Ajinkya Rahane ranks 27th in the ICC Test batting rankings, with 612 points. Ajinkya Rahane started playing Cricket at 7, his father took him to a coaching camp (Dombivli). At the age of 17, Rahane was coached by Pravin Amre. He played an Under-19 match representing Team India against New Zealand.
Ajinkya Rahane made his first-class debut for Mumbai at the age of 19 while playing against Karachi Urban (Sep 2007). He stacked 143 Runs in his debut game which Rahane get selected for the Irani Trophy match against the Rest of India.
He made his Ranji Trophy debut in the 2007-08 seasons for Mumbai. There he performed very well and got selected to play in Duleep Trophy. In the 2nd season, he slammed over 1000 runs which helped Team Mumbai win its 38th Ranji Trophy Title. He grooved his highest 1st-class score of 265 runs not out against Hyderabad in the other season. After stacking 1000 runs in the 2010-11 seasons, he succeeded in scoring 1000 runs in 3 other seasons.

Rahane has played for MI, RR, and Rising Pune Supergiant in the Indian Premier League Tournament. With very limited opportunities in Mumbai, he moved to Rajasthan in 2012 and scored a match-winning 98 in the season’s 1st match.

Ajinkya made his ODI debut against England (Chester-le-Street) where Rahane stacked 40 runs at a strike rate of 90. He performed well in that series in which he scored 50. After then he failed to perform well in the following series against Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Pakistan.
He did well enough to be given a ticket to the 2015 World Cup (Australia). There he performed great in the middle-order, playing an important knock of 79 against South Africa.
He also played in the 2019 World Cup squad that went to England. Despite India’s no. 4 batting problems and Rahane’s excellent record in England, the selectors gave him the side-eye.
