England announces 12-Man Squad for Adelaide Test

Ashes 2021-22 – England Men’s Cricket Team has announced a 12-man squad for the 2nd Test. The Ashes Series is scheduled to be played at the Adelaide Oval from 16th December. It will be the first of the two pink-ball Tests in this series with the other one being played at Hobart.

After being rested, for the first Test at Gabba, the duo of James Anderson & Stuart Broad has made a comeback. At the Boxing Day test in Melbourne, Mark Wood has been rested keeping an eye on bringing him back.

Outing in the first Test, Jack Leach has been named in the squad. By considering that Jack Leach is the only frontline spinner option. He scored 102 runs in just 13 overs and was taken to the cleaners by David Warner & Travis Head.

In Brisbane, Ben Stokes has been deemed fit for the Test. After he looked quite back and wasn’t playing at his 100 % but the Stokes is likely to keep him going in tough alien conditions.

Speaking about the return to the side, James Anderson said that “the squad is quite strong and the goal is to rotate players so they can give their best whenever required on the field. It is a long taxing tour that the Englishmen have signed up for and they need to be prepared for the same”.

“It is always frustrating when you miss out on a Test but it is all about the big picture. We have five Tests in fairly quick succession so we are trying to keep guys fresh. It shows how strong a squad we’ve got when and Stuart comes back into the 12 for this Test. We are fully focused on getting back in the series,” James Anderson mentioned.
