The retained players of the existing eight teams were announced on 30 November 2021. And the two new teams named their players on 22 January 2022. IPL 2022 Auction Retention Rules
Till now the official information of the IPL 2022 auction has not been revealed by the Indian Cricket Board. Taking the mega auction of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, all the franchise players list, retention, etc. Every year IPL is usually scheduled to be played in the month of April-May.
New Rules for IPL 2022 Auction- Friends, there is no official confirmation about IPL 2022 auction and new rules yet. Since this time two new teams can join and hence BCCI can make some changes to the guidelines. Till now the maximum number of players in a team is 25 and the minimum is 18. Yes, this time two new teams are joining the group of eight franchises of IPL. The BCCI had already made it clear that this time two new teams will be brought in. According to the news report, Ahmedabad City can be one, and Lucknow, Kanpur can be the second franchise in the two new teams.
The big corporate giants include Kolkata-based RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Hyderabad-based Aurobindo Pharma Ltd; the Adani group headquartered in Ahmedabad; and the Torrent Group have shown their interests in owning an IPL franchise.
BCCI has shortlisted six cities, among these 6 cities 2 franchises will finally add to the IPL Teams. In which Lucknow and Ahemdabad are added to the IPL Tournament.
Lucknow Team – RPSG Group of Sanjiv Goenka has owned the Lucknow team for Rs 7,090 Crore. As the mentor, Gautam Gambhir is appointed to the Lucknow franchise for IPL 2022.
Ahemdabad Team – CVC Capitals Partners has owned the Ahemdabad Team for Rs. 5625 Crores. According to the news, they are interested to make Ravi Shastri the head coach of the team.
IPL 2022 Auction Rules
There is no official update of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. But due to the inclusion of two new franchises, it is expected that there could be some addition to the existing rules. As per IPL’s new rules, a franchise can retain only 3 players. These can be three players – two Indian and one overseas or one Indian and two foreign players. The board has said that except for the retained player, all other players can be auctioned/bought.
590 Players shortlisted for IPL Auction 2022
The Board of Cricket Control in India has announced a list of 590 Players for the IPL Mega auction. Among the team, there are 370 Indian Players and 270 overseas players, Overseas players are from different countries like Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Sir Lanka. So far, the 10 franchises have picked a total of 33 players in their squads.
While KL Rahul will lead the Lucknow franchise, Hardik Pandya will lead Ahmedabad. Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have assigned captains as well. The likes of KKR, RCB, PBKS are looking for potential captains.
IPL 2022 – Total Purse of Each IPL Franchise, The Teams Purse
The total spend value for each franchise in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction may be increased. Till 2021 the franchise could spend INR 85 crores only on the players. However this time BCCI should increase the total purse value.
The total purse value for each franchise has been increased to INR 90 Crores from INR 85 Crores. The board further said that the purse value will increase in the next two years. It will go INR 95 Crores in IPL 2023 and INR 100 Crores in IPL 2024.
Maximum players in Each Team
As of now, each franchise can buy a maximum of 25 players and a minimum of 8 players in the IPL. However, this time the number may increase.

How many Players can retain in IPL 2022, First Choice Retention Price
There has been no change in the salaries of the players. The salaries of retained players will be – INR 15 Crore, INR 11 Crore, and INR 7 Crore (if a franchise retains three cricketers). The salary structure of retained players will be Rs 12.5 crore and Rs 8.5 crore if two players are retained by a franchise and Rs 12.5 crore for retaining only one player.
MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli are the first choice of their respective franchises and are receiving INR 15 Crore in each IPL season since 2018 while Virat Kohli is receiving INR 17 Crore.
