IPL 2022 Groups, Format, Total Matches & Venue Officially Revealed 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has revealed about IPL 2022 Team Groups, Format, Number of Matches and Venue. A big Twenty20 Champion League  Indian Premier League is all set to begin on 26 March 2021. In this league total of 70 Matches will be played among 10 IPL Franchise Teams. BCCI has announced IPL Group and Format & Venue. 

Four international standard venues have been selected for the IPL cricket tournament to be held from 26 March to 29 May 2022, where 70 league matches will take place. According to the news of the Cricket Board, the IPL league fixtures will be held in Mumbai and Pune.

Meanwhile, the schedule and fixtures of the 15th season of the tournament were informed by the BCCI in a media advisory on Friday. The league phase of the tournament will be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium (CCI), Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium and Pune’s MCA International Stadium.

TATA IPL Format 2022: Group Wise Distribution of Teams 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has revealed that this time there will be 10 teams in the IPL, due to which it will be divided into two groups. There will be 5 teams in each group and each team will play 14 league games. There will be two matches each with the teams of their own group and the team in the same row of the other group while one match each with the rest of the teams. Thus there will be 14 matches for each team.

The 10 teams will have seven league matches at home and seven at away venues, resulting in 14 league matches each. In the tournament, each team will face the five teams twice and the others only once.

IPL 2022 League Stage Fixtures – Explained 

The Indian Premier League has 70 league stages and 4 playoff matches. The BCCI stated that each of the 10 teams would play twice against the teams in their group as well as twice with the team in the same row from the other group. At the same time, the team will play one match each with the teams of the other group.

Wankhede and DY Patil stadiums will host 20 matches each, while the remaining two stadiums will host the rest of the games. Meanwhile, BCCI also mentioned that each team will play 4 matches each at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium and 3 each at Brabourne Stadium (CCI) and MCA International Stadium, Pune.

IPL 2022: 70 League Matches among All 10 Teams – Explained 

First, let’s look at IPL 2022 Group and Format. Each team will play two matches each with the teams of its group and the team of the same row from the other group. Together with the rest of the teams in the second group, they will play only once during the season,” BCCI said in an official press release.

“For example: In Group A, MI will play 2 matches each against KKR, RR, DC, LSG. MI will also play 2 matches against CSK and 1 match against other teams in Group B. Similarly, in Group B, RCB will play 2 matches against CSK, SRH, PBKS and GT. RCB will also play 2 matches against RR and 1 match against other teams in Group A.
