IPL 2022: Ishan Kishan Joins the League of Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh
In the first match of IPL 2022, Ishan Kishan played an explosive inning of 71 runs in 48 balls against Delhi Capitals. Mumbai Indians scored 177 runs in 20 overs in which Ishan Kishan hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. In reply, Delhi Capitals won the match by 4 wickets.
Even after the defeat of Mumbai Indians, Kishan joined a unique list of Mumbai Indians cricket which also includes Sachin Tendulkar. This is the third time in IPL that Kishan has scored three consecutive half-centuries. He scored two fifties last season – 50* vs RR and 84 against SRH – and carried on that form with a half-century in his first game this season.
Ishan Kishan Joins the League of Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar (2010) and Quinton de Kock (2020) were the last MI players to score 3 consecutive half-centuries. Apart from this, Kishan has also become another rare record with Yuvraj Singh. Earlier being the costliest player in the auction, Kishan became only the second player to score a fifty in his first IPL game.
Mumbai bought him for 15.25 crores, making him the most expensive player in the mega-auction this year. With a half-century to his credit, he proved his mettle. Also Read- CSK का कप्तान बनने के बाद Ravindra Jadeja ने दिया पहला बयान
RCB bought Yuvraj Singh for 14 crores in the 2014 IPL auction and Yuvraj scored 52 runs in 29 balls against Delhi in his first game. Kishan’s half-century fell to zero in the game. Chasing 178, Delhi was reduced to 104/6 and it looked like the game was on MI to lose.
Axar Patel played an unbeaten inning of 75 runs in 30 balls to help Mumbai win. In the earlier match, Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets to level MI on a good batting surface. For his figures of 3/18, Kuldeep has adjudged the player of the match.
