The International Cricket Council is organizing the seventh T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman. This 45-match tournament has started from October 17. 16 countries are participating in the biggest tournament of Twenty20 International. Namibia is also a part of the T20 World Cup and is in Group A of the qualifying round with Sri Lanka, Netherlands. Group B of the same qualifying round includes Bangladesh, Scotland, Oman and Papua New Guinea cricket teams.

Namibia is entering the World Cup for the first time in 18 years. Last appeared in the 50 over the edition of 2003. The current Namibian Team Squad is led by Gerhard Erasmus. Who has adjudged the Player of the Tournament in the 2019 T20 World Cup Qualifier in UAE. Namibia is part of Group A along with Sri Lanka, Ireland and the Netherlands, and will feature in the first round of the tournament with their matches in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

The Namibia 15-man squad also includes former South African bowler all-rounder David Wiese, who will replace Zhivago Groenewald and JP Kotze after the retirements.

Namibia achieved full T20I status in 2018. To date, the team has played 22 Twenty20 Internationals, winning 18 of them. Erasmus is the leading run-scorer in the T20 format while John Frylink has taken the most wickets.

Namibia Cricket Team Profile 

The Namibia national cricket team is the men’s team that represents the Republic of Namibia and is governed by Cricket Namibia, an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council since 1992 and became part of the High-Performance Program in 2007. They took part in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup in Abu Dhabi and won their first-ever World Cup game against The Netherlands.

Namibia played the first T20I match against Ghana on 20 May 2019 and the last match was played against the Netherlands on 20 October 2021 at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi. So far Namibia has won 19 out of 24 Twenty20 Internationals matches and lost 5.
