
Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of India vs Sri Lanka T20 Series
Presently Sri Lanka team is on an Indian tour from 16th February to the 16th match. Here she will play 3 Twenty20 Internationals and 2 Test matches. The big news here is that young Indian batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the remaining matches of India vs Sri Lanka T20 series due to a wrist injury. According to reports, Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist before the opening T20 match, after which he was rested from the playing 11. Now he has been replaced by Mayank Agarwal, who is part of the Test team.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed veteran opener Mayank Agarwal in place of Gaikwad. The Indian Cricket Board spokesperson said that Ruturaj Gaikwad had some wrist problem and was in pain. The BCCI medical team is monitoring the cricketer. “Ruturaj Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist, which is affecting his batting. He was not available for selection for the first T20I Match. The BCCI medical team is examining him,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Apart from this, the BCCI said that the board has full control to send Mayank Agarwal as a replacement. Agarwal, who was part of India’s Test squad against Sri Lanka, was in Chandigarh along with other Indian players to prepare for the red ball series. The veteran opener has been transferred bubble to bubble from Chandigarh to Dharamsala where the last two T20I matches are to be played.

“It was not difficult to send Agarwal in as it could have easily been a bubble-to-bubble transfer. He was in Chandigarh and was immediately taken away,” said a BCCI source.
The second match of the T20I series will be held in Himachal Pradesh on 26 February. Both the teams have reached the ground for practice. Team India is in a strong position with a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. In the first T20 match played in Lucknow, India defeated Sri Lanka by 62 runs.
Young batsman Ishan Kishan, who struggled big in the West Indies series, started his innings with 89 runs in 56 balls. Shreyas Iyer also contributed to the team’s success by scoring 57 runs in just 28 balls.
