Shardul Thakur IPL Career
By playing well and owning performances in the domestic circuit, He was grabbed by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 2014 IPL Auction for a base price of INR 20 lakhs. Lord Thakur the medium-pace bowler made his debut against Delhi Daredevils in the 2015 season.
When CSK and RR were suspended for two seasons, Shardul was brought up by Rising Pune Supergiants and played under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni & Steven Smith. In the 2018 season, he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and again went on to play under M.S Dhoni.
In the 2019 season, Shardul Thakur played fewer matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Though, he played in the Final where he scalped 2 wickets against Mumbai Indians (MI). However, CSK failed to win the IPL title in 2019 after Thakur got out LBW when 2 runs were needed.

Domestic Career
Lord Thakur town was 87 km away from Mumbai. He had to catch early morning Mumbai-Local trains to come for practice. He came into the limelight when he hit 6 sixes in 6 balls in school cricket.
In November 2012, he debuted against Rajasthan in domestic cricket. He could not make his debut because he hunted only 4 wickets at an average rate of 82.0 in his first 4 matches. He scalped 27 wickets at an average rate of 26.25 in the next season.
In the Ranji Season of 2014-15, he come out like a boss and finished the season on joint-top with 48 wickets at an average rate of 20.81 in 10 matches. In the same season, he completed five 5-wicket hauls.
His amazing performance helped him a place in India A squad for him to play 4-day fixtures against Australia A & South Africa A. In the same year, Shardul was added to the team of Board President’s XI to play a practice match against South Africa, where he hunted 4 wickets. After then Shardul continued his mind-blowing performance in the Ranji Trophy of the 2015-16 season. In the final of the tournament, Lord Thakur led Mumbai to win the title by hunting 8 wickets.

With his amazing performance in first-class cricket, he was called up for the Indian squad touring to West Indies. Shardul Thakur made his ODI debut on 31 August 2017 against Sri Lanka. He has played 11 ODIs till now and scalped 11 wickets.
T20 Career
Lord Thakur made his T20I debut for India against South Africa on 21 February 2018. In March 2018, he was selected to play in the Nidahas Trophy 2018. In a match against Sri Lanka, He was awarded the Man of the Match award. He ended with taking 6 wickets from 5 matches at an average rate of 29.33.
