For the next 10 years, ECB has sold the media rights of the UAE T20 League to Zee Network. For this Zee Network has paid Rs 905 Crore. All the matches of this tournament will be telecast on the Sony network. These two big media networks as the merger are likely to be completed soon. In the media rights bid for this reason Sony Network didn’t participate.
UAE T20 League – Media rights sold to Zee Network
Almost a week ago, the media rights agreement was finalized. According to the Cricbuzz News, on behalf of Zee, the former CEO of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) participated in this bid. As the Business President for South Asia, Rahul Johri joined the Zee Network about a year ago.
After talks with Khalid Al Zarooni, Rahul signed the agreement. Khalid Al Zarooni is the chairman of the league. However, the ECB has not yet made an official announcement.
Zee Network says most of the players participating in this UAE T20 League are associated with International Cricket. According to the sources of Zee Network has also invested in Central Asia.
After the merger with Sony, the group has also invested in Pakistan through Ten Sports. There will be a total of 06 teams in this league it will be organized from the month of February 2022 to March 2022. Each franchise will be allowed to play 10 foreign players in this league.
At present, the IPL media rights are the highest priced worth three thousand 771 Crores. This price is likely to increase further. The cost of the Hundred, Pakistan Super League (PSL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Big Bash League (BBL) is much less as compared to IPL.
